Cancer Detection Program Donation

CellularOne recently presented a check in the amount of $5,000 to the Tri-Counties Cancer Detection Program with the donation dedicated for San Luis Obispo County. CellularOne conducted a fundraising campaign in October 2003 that raised monies through its new customer base. The campaign was conducted in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For the fourth year in a row, CellularOne has donated funds to support the Cancer Detection Program. CellularOne’s donation throughout the four-year period now totals $39,830. The Tri-Counties Cancer Detection Program provides free breast cancer screenings and diagnostic exams to eligible low-income, uninsured or underinsured women. The donation from CellularOne is designated for use only by women who reside in San Luis Obispo County.

Aloha CellularOne!

"Aloha SLO!" was the theme at the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Mixer Showcase held in May 2004. The CellularOne booth was dressed up in Hawaiian style and staff gave away 500 free beach balls to participants! CellularOne conducted a special drawing for an overnight stay at the Hyatt Regency Newport Hotel and dinner for two at Roy’s Hawaiian Restaurant in Newport Beach. CellularOne Helps Citizens Assist Police

A unique program gives Morro Bay citizens the opportunity to help keep their neighborhoods safe. Through the Morro Bay Police Community Service Volunteer Program, citizen volunteers assist police officers with search and rescue, crime scene preservation, vacation house checks, and traffic control at accident scenes. The volunteers also patrol local neighborhoods, Morro Bay's downtown area as well as special community events. The program, which has been in effect since 1996, boasts 30 trained volunteers who stay connected and report emergencies using wireless phones donated by CellularOne. "When tragedy strikes, Morro Bay Police Community Services Volunteers are on the scene to assist emergency personnel," said Hank Roth, crime prevention coordinator for the Morro Bay Police Department. "Whether they are reporting suspicious activity, helping a lost child or reporting a traffic accident, these community volunteers depend on clear communication from CellularOne."

Donate a Phone Campaign

In a effort to provide safety and security for victims of domestic violence and at-risk senior citizens, CellularOne, the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo and the local chapter of Soroptimist International collected used wireless phones during National Wireless Safety Week. The phones were then inspected, programmed to dial 911, and donated to area women's shelters and to Lifespan Services Network, which operates programs designed to help seniors retain their independence. The Donate-A-Phone Campaign collected more than 260 used phones.
